Meet the Team

Dr. Yuan is a practicing physician with firsthand experience treating patients affected by chronic skin conditions. His direct connection to patient care brings clinical relevance and urgency to DermalBright’s mission of developing targeted, science-driven therapies for underserved dermatologic diseases. In addition to his medical practice in Rockville Maryland, Dr. Yuan has a strong background in biomedical research, with numerous peer-reviewed publications spanning both clinical and translational science. He leads the company with a dual focus on scientific rigor and real-world patient impact.

Dr. Jia has over 20 years of extensive experience in biologic drug development, CMC regulatory review for INDs and BLAs, and GMP inspections. Throughout her career, she has guided numerous global companies through successful FDA inspections. During her tenure at the US FDA, Dr. Jia served as a senior CMC reviewer for IND/BLA submissions and carried out pre-approval and prelicensing inspections of biological products in the Office of Biotechnology Products under CDER. Furthermore, she co-instructed the annual MIT short course on formulation studies during her time at the FDA. Dr. Jia also played a pivotal role in developing breakthrough therapy policies at the FDA and is highly knowledgeable about the regulatory requirements for fast track and breakthrough requests, as well as drug development via expedited pathways. Academically, Dr. Jia holds a master's degree in Bioscience Regulatory Affairs from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Emory University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in medicine from Peking University, passed the USMLE, and obtained her ECFMG certification for foreign medical graduates.

Emily leads business strategy, institutional capital relations, and corporate development at Dermalbright Pharma. A Stanford University alumna and 2024 Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, she previously co-founded a venture-backed AI company, scaling it to a $2.6 billion valuation. Emily leverages her extensive background in hyper-growth fundraising, enterprise building, and navigating complex regulatory landscapes to drive Dermalbright’s corporate expansion. She serves as the architectural force behind the company's market access and growth strategy as it advances targeted oral and topical therapeutic candidates through the clinical pipeline.  

Katie is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and is currently pursuing an M.S.E. in Scientific Computing at Penn Engineering, along with pre-medical post-baccalaureate coursework at George Washington University. At DermalBright, she helps lead execution of the company’s dual pipeline alongside the CEO/CMO, including IND preparation for its oral therapeutic and formulation development for its topical cream. She oversees financial planning, corporate operations, and coordination across scientific, operational, and business workstreams.
